Annie saw dusty rise as the ground shuddered during a huge earthquake in Peru. As a circumnavigator of the Ring of Fire, the volcanic island chains that shaped the whales and their hunters' routes, Annie must have felt more, or at the very least, seen many volcanic cones, even smoldering ones.
